What Do You Think When You Hear the Word “Baptist”?

Many people immediately picture strict dress codes, hellfire-and-brimstone preaching, endless rules, or controlling behavior. That stereotype exists for a reason—certain churches (not just Baptist) have unfortunately reinforced it over the years.

But that’s not the heart of what being Baptist truly means.

We’re passionately committed to sound biblical teaching and have virtually no room for legalism. We’re “people of the Book,” holding that the Bible is inspired, inerrant, infallible, and sufficient—our sole authority for faith and life.

We teach the whole Bible, verse by verse, without picking and choosing or avoiding the difficult or uncomfortable passages. All of God’s Word is truth, and we’re dedicated to proclaiming it faithfully.

We don’t add man-made rules to earn God’s favor or control others. Legalism—trying to gain salvation through dos and don’ts—has no place here.

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone… Jesus plus nothing.

Core Baptist Convictions

  • The Bible is our ultimate authority — inerrant, inspired, and sufficient. Not traditions, creeds, or church leaders.

  • Salvation by grace through faith — Jesus plus nothing. His death and resurrection are all that save us; our own efforts, good deeds, or religious rituals contribute absolutely nothing to our salvation.

  • Believer’s baptism — We baptize (by immersion) those who have personally trusted Christ, as a public symbol and declaration of their new life in Him (and not as a saving act).

  • Priesthood of all believers — Every Christian has direct access to God; no human intermediaries needed.

  • Autonomy of the local church — Each church is self-governing under Christ, with no outside hierarchy.

  • Two ordinances — We observe only two practices that Jesus directly commanded His church:
    • Believer’s baptism by immersion, a one-time act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

    • The Lord’s Supper, a regular remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice through the bread and cup. We practice this with an open table—any who have placed their faith in Jesus as Savior are warmly invited to participate with us, regardless of church background.

We’re about freedom in Christ, loving God and people, sharing the Gospel, and living out biblical truth—without extra burdens or judgment.

If the word “Baptist” carries baggage for you, or if you’re simply curious, we’d love to talk and show you who we really are: a community centered on joy, grace, and Jesus.
